I've finally finished outlining the second book for my new series, Of Beasts and Buzzards. And, Im ready to sit down and start on the first draft! So Exciting!
Outlines are flexible and subject to change. Just because something is written down now, it may evolve later. Think of your outline as the basic concept sketches an artist does before creating the painted piece on canvas.
I used a method I found in an article to help me work through my "writer's pothole" by guest columnist, K.M. Weiland, on Writer's Digest, "7 Steps to Creating a Flexible Outline for Any Story." Her advice made the process less stressful and helped create a solid foundation for my book. I definitely recommend it for anyone who is experiencing problems starting their book, whether its the twentieth or the very first.
